Daylight savings time came and went, the showers are pouring, the flowers are blooming, and the unfamiliar warmth has returned. That’s right folks spring is here! With spring comes nautical looks of boating, sailors, and anchors. You might remember this trend from last summer and it has reappeared again in runways shows like Givenchy Spring 2007 Haute Couture with oversize sailor caps and cleverly placed button detailing. This trend is also popping up in stores like J. Crew whose whole catalog included cruise line wear with rope detailing on crisp whites and moody navy blues. Before this trend comes and goes don’t forget to grab some of our awesome nautical jewelry we have been acquiring just for the warmer months.
Nautical style is all about sailor icons with anchors, boats, lifesavers, captain’s wheels and the like.
You could also go tropical with oceanic icons like seashells, sea stars, and mermaids.
If you do not want to be screaming sailor, you can go simpler with details of red white and blue in fun Lucite necklaces or woven rope belts.
It is a fun look for the warmer weather that will have you shouting “Land Ho!”
